National Social Security Fund boss Tom Odongo fired

Tom Odongo received his sacking letter from Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi.
National Social Security Fund boss, Tom Odongo was Monday fired and ordered to vacate the office immediately.

In the termination letter, Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi instructed Odongo to hand over the office to the corporation secretary, Hope Mwashumbe.

“Please arrange to return any company property that is in your possession and handover the office to Ms. Hope Mwashumbe, the corporation Secretary,” read the letter signed by Kambi.

In a gazette notice dated today (July 22, 2013), Odongo’s appointment as a member of the National Social Security Fund Board of Trustees was revoked alongside that of Fred Rabongo.

Odongo was appointed the NSSF managing trustee in November last year and was expected to serve in that position for three years.

Last week, in a meeting with COTU, Deputy President William Ruto said the government would restructure the key funds in the country to enhance efficiency and delivery of services.

He said the management structures of National Hospital Insurance Fund and the National Social Security Fund must be reformed to enhance efficiency in collection of contributions.
