After a 2-0 win over Western Stima yesterday at City Stadium,
Gormhia diehard fans, who are known for their aggressive way of celebrating are
said to have engaged in a dreadful fight with Muthurwa hawkers as they headed
home.
A Gormahia fan is feared
dead after being beaten by hawkers at the Muthurwa Market on Landhies road.
Caught in the scuffle were
vehicles passing along Muthurwa which were stoned and another fan is said to
have been beaten mercilessly by the hawkers.
Gor Mahia Vice Chairman
Faiz Ochieng confirmed the incident and called on the government to guarantee
safety for fans.
“It is very disappointing
that this issue of fans being attacked at Muthurwa is fast becoming a big
menace. I personally wrote a letter to the inspector General of Police
requesting that Police provide ample security to our fans after matches.” He
said.
Faiz said that during the
confrontation, one unidentified fan was killed, “There was a confrontation and
we have lost a life in the process.”
