UHURU's K24 Poaches Top Citizen TV Journalist..

Heavyweight journalist Peter Opondo has resigned as Citizen TV’s Managing Editor to take up a new and more lucrative position as the general manager in charge of broadcasting at Mediamax, a media company largely associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Friday is Opondo’s last day in Royal Media Services, where he joined last year from NTV Uganda.
Sources said: “He will report at K24 TV as the general manager in charge of broadcasting on Monday,” the source told Jackal News, a debilitating blow for S.K. Macharia who owns the Royal Media Services.
Yet Again K24 Poaches Top Citizen TV JournalistOpondo is arguably one of the TV managers in Kenya, having worked nearly all major TV channels in Kenya.

“Peter Opondo is an asset to any company he works for. He is more professional and understands what news is and programming is.

He is one hell of a workhorse,” a source added.
This is the latest in a series of debilitating blows that Mediamax has dealt on its bigger rival Citizen TV, months after it poached several of its journalists and anchors, spooking the broadcasting industry.

Media experts called the move“media genocide,” but Royal Media Services editorial Chief Faridah Karoney told me then:

“I have in this industry for long and this is normal.”
At Mediamax, Opondo will be in charge of K24 TV, Kameme FM, Meru FM and Milele FM. Sources said Mediamax is seeking to buy out other radio station to expand the media empire.
