UHURU Asks Politicians To Stop Supremacy Wars Featured

The President said elections were over and leaders should now serve their electorate and desist from petty differences.

The President was speaking today after attending a special mass in remembrance of the late Bishop Urbanus Joseph Kioko at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral Catholic Church in Machakos town.

Kenyatta said that leaders should behave maturely and desist from abuses which have no place in Kenya today.

Earlier, when he addressed the congregation, President Kenyatta called on the national and county governments to work in harmony in serving Kenyans.

The Head of State emphasized that the two levels of government should consult regularly to ensure prudent utilization of scarce resources for efficient and effective delivery of services.
President Kenyatta reiterated his commitment to working with leaders at the two levels of government in order to deliver on the promises he made to Kenyans in line with the Jubilee manifesto.

“Let us cooperate for the benefit of the people of Kenya, including food security, peace and reconciliation,” the President said.

The Head of State said attainment of food sufficiency would save the country’s much needed foreign exchange which could have been used on food imports.

On the East African integration, President Kenyatta asked member countries to co-operate in removing the remaining barriers that impede the free movement of goods and services.
The President said the population over 120 million people in the region provided a large market for investors in the EAC member countries and beyond.

Speaking during the same occasion, Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua appealed to leaders to shun divisive politics and direct their energies towards development activities that would uplift the standards of living in the country.

Others who spoke included Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Tanzania Amb. Mutinda Mutiso and the Catholic Bishop of Dodoma in Tanzania Gervas John Nyaisonga.

In attendance were local current and former Members of parliament and hundreds of Catholic faithful from the various churches in the county.
