First off, allow me to say that rape is a despicable crime. It
not only physically injures victims but leaves them bearing
psychological scars years after the ordeal. It is also the biggest
statement of weakness in the perpetrator. It is a disgusting display of
self loathing and a tragic attempt at showing the world that the
perpetrator is better than the world.
With that being said, sometimes like a rose growing through a crack
in concrete, the survivors overcome their ordeal at the hands of their
cowardly attackers. And like the sun rising above gloomy, ominous
clouds, they stand above the experience and serve as a beacon to hope to
other victims.
This is the case with the beautiful Eve d'Souza. For those of you who remember her from her days on radio, I'm sure you remember her for her bubbly, lively and extroverted personality. you remember her laugh and the cheerful sound of her voice on the show she used to host on Capital FM; Hits Not Homework.
Indeed, so popular was she that when she left, she left her successors with gargantuan shoes to fill. So popular was she that every subsequent female who has co-hosted the show has had to contend with a comparison with her.
The only Capital FM show I ever bothered to tune into and loved because she did not "dey blow grammar proper!" or rather, she spoke in an African voice devoid of the American accent.
Eve was attacked at her gate by two animals who carjacked her. Let me let her words talk to you -that is the only way to let her emotions speak to your heart. the only way to let you glimpse just an iota of her pain; "When the men forced their way into my car, I thought they just wanted to steal from me.
I remember being pissed off and giving them a bit of attitude, telling them to take the money and the car and just leave. I remember thinking that they were inconveniencing me greatly and I just wanted to go home and sleep.
It was 3 am on a Sunday morning. However, I realised I was in a lot of trouble when one of the men slapped me really hard. At the time, they were driving towards a certain slum. When they reached a certain juncture, they stopped the car One of the men went ahead to beat me up and rape me as the other stripped down the car of my stereo and valuables...
And now they have this exclusive. Hats off to the True Love team. And to read the entire story of what transpired thereafter and whether or not the rapists were arrested, buy and read this month's edition of True Love.
