The attacks by known assailants on Nduru village on Friday night left Moroa Dhado, a form two student at Buyani secondary with 15 cm arrowhead deep into his skull.
The people who attacked the schoolboy are known to the victim by names and other details.
“We were sitting outside our camp when suddenly we heard cries of I have been shot,” Salim Gaoye a brother to the victim said.
“We know them they are some of our neighbours whom we used to play and to go to school with,” Gaoye said.
Dhado who was first rushed to Ngao health center before being transferred to Malindi general hospital and later referred to the Coast general hospital was in a state of pain as we evidently witnessed when we visited the hospital.
Relatives of the victims questioned the police effort in curbing violence in the volatile Tana River County, which has seen attacks from rival neighbouring communities in the area.
“We are living in fear as we don’t know when other attacks may occur.
Police have neglected us and they are just about two kilometres from our camps,” Omar Komora, a resident of Tana delta said.
Residents of Tana River are now wary that this may be the beginning of fresh attacks that go be chipping up again following last year sporadic massacre that happened in the region.
Tension is still high in the area especially for those who had just returned from other counties to the war torn area and are still living in camps.
