FORMER Prime Minister Raila Odinga's private secretary Caroli Omondi has applied for a job as principal secretary in the Jubilee government.
Former Provincial Commissioner Abdul Mwasserah, who had been deployed at the PM's office, and Omondi are among the 155 people shortlisted for the job.
The Public Service Commission published the shortlist in the press yesterday.
The job attracted 2,088 applicants.
Conspicuously absent from the shortlist is Head of Public Service Francis Kimemia who has been touted to get a Cabinet post at the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.
Also missing in the list are former PSs Mohamed Isahakia (Office of the Prime Minister), Joseph Kinyua (Treasury), Mutea Iringo (Internal Security), Nancy Kirui (Defence), Karegah Mutahi (Local Government), Dorothy Angote (Lands), George Godia (Education), Patrick Nyoike (Energy), Mary Ngari (Medical Services), Romano Kiome (Agriculture) and Mark Bor (Public Health and Sanitation).
Familiar names on the shortlist are PSs Bitange Ndemo (Communication), Edward Sambili (Planning), David Stower (Water), Joseph Njoroge (Roads) and Tirop Kosgey (Housing).
Other current high ranking officers successful applicants are Kenya National Highways Authority director general Meshack Kidenda, Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Richard Lesiyampe and Kenya National Examination Council boss Paul Wasanga.
Others are National Cohesion and Integration Commission chairman Mzalendo Kibunjia, Office of the Ombudsman commissioner Ekuru Aukut, Kenya Association of Manufacturers CEO Betty Maina and Kerio Valley Development Authority boss David Kimosop.
Kenya Railways Managing Director Nduva Muli, Agriculture under secretary Wilson Songa as well as Agricultural Development Corporation boss William
Kirwa are also on the shortlist.
The shortlisted candidates will sit for interviews starting Monday at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
The PSC chairperson, Margaret Kobia, has asked wananchi to help vet the candidates.
“Members of the public are invited to submit any information to the selection panel on any of the candidates to the commission before May 2,” said Kobia.
The interviews will end on May 10, after which 66 names will be forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointment.
