Let Uhuru himself choose, Balala tells Kabogo that he must be in Cabinet..

Najib Balala has dismissed William Kabogo's view that those who lost in the March 4 elections should not be appointed to Cabinet. Through his personal assistant Ben Furaha, Balala said the executive should not be pressured in making his decisions.

Kiambu governor Kabogo said at a church in Thika, Balala, former Matuga MP Chirau Ali Mwakwere and ex-Water minister Charity Ngilu should not be appointed to Cabinet. He said they are "rejects of the people".

Kabogo added that sitting MPs should not be appointed to the Cabinet as it would necessitate by-elections which will be costly to taxpayers.

However, Furaha yesterday said Kabogo should stick to issues affecting Kiambu.

“The executive know who they have settled on for the posts,” he said on the phone from Nairobi.

“He is entitled to his own opinion. It is not the opinion of the executive.” President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto are expected to name their Cabinet before Parliament sets up the committee to vet them.

Intense lobbying has been going on for the positions. Balala expects that a slot will be reserved for his RP party after vigorously campaigning for the Jubilee Alliance in Mombasa.

He emerged second after Cord’s Hassan Omar. Many believe Balala’s concentration on national politics cost him the seat as he was busy campaigning for Uhuru and Ruto more than himself.
