Kidero Congratulates Uhuru Kenyatta for winning and the Supreme Court Judges for their Wisdom...



 Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has congratulated President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta after the Supreme Court upheld his election in the March 4 general elections. He said the confirmation of Uhuru and Deputy President-elect William Ruto brings down the curtain on politics and sets a new stage for the business of building the nation.


“I want to congratulate President- elect Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President-elect William Ruto upon confirmation of their election win by the judges of the Supreme Court,” Kidero said. Kidero also applauded the Supreme Court judges for the expeditious manner they brought to conclusion the presidential petition lodged by Coalition for Reforms and Democracy flag-bearer Raila Odinga challenging the declaration of Kenyatta as President-elect. 


“I want also to commend the Supreme Court judges and all the lawyers involved in the presidential petition for their diligent work in bringing the petition to a speedy conclusion,” he added. 

In a statement through his press team, Kidero appealed to all Kenyans from all the political divides to maintain peace and engage themselves in constructive activities that will see the country makes milestone in terms of development He denounced pockets of violence witnessed in parts of Nairobi and Western Kenya where some youth took advantage of the petition outcome to attack others and loot property. 


After the landmark ruling that upheld the election of Uhuru, violent protests were reported in Kariobangi, Dandora, Kariobangi, Mathare, Kawangware, Jogoo Road, Kayole among other informal settlements in Nairobi.


In Western Kenya, there were reports of violent demonstrations in Kondele area in Kisumu, Migori and Homa Bay counties.
