Raila Odinga’s CORD alliance has this morning alleged that the results currently being released by the IEBC have been rigged and has asked the Issack Hassan-led commission to stop releasing the results because their integrity has been compromised.
CORD’s allegations were made by Raila’s running mate VP
Kalonzo Musyoka at a press conference at Nairobi’s Serena Hotel. Kalonzo said
that CORD was sure that the results had been doctored because some areas were
recording a higher vote count than the number of registered voters.
“We have a number of concerns, we have evidence of results
being doctored,” said the VP.
Kalonzo added that CORD had already approached the IEBC with
its concerns but was also aware that the IEBC itself “is responsible for the
problems.”
The VP said that CORD first started getting concerned when
its “agents were told to leave the tallying centre.”
Kalonzo was however quick to add that CORD was not calling
for mass action and he urged the coalition’s supporters to stay calm.
More updates to follow.
