AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRIME MINISTER RAILA ODINGA AND BY EXTENSION THE ODM FAMILY..

Courtesy of The Diary of a Roamer and Politician.

Usually when one is writing a letter you will expect them to begin with the niceties, I will skip that because with all intends this is not a note to find out how the Prime Minister @OdingaRaila is doing. Oh yell, I know how the Prime Minister is doing.

I will instead skip to the contents of this letter and address the reason why I take time out of my not so busy schedule to write to the PM a letter he might never read anyway. You are now wondering why I am wasting your time and mine, just remember I have indicated I have a lot of time in my hand, to waste!

That is where this letter is going to kick off from, time, yes a lot of it and today I have this free internet where I can write and still get time to update my blog, my facebook status, and even seldom tweet. You might be wondering why I have so much time at hand, but that is a story for another day, really am not asking for a job so read on.

This is not one of those naomba serikali ‘massive.’ NO this is out of genuine concern for you and the future of my country, Kenya, that I hold so dear to my heart.

In the 2007 we were made to believe that your ‘right’ to presidency of this country was stolen from you, I have no doubt in my mind that it happened. But let me not dwell there, people will start asking questions which I feel very uncomfortable answering. First forward today, you are close to the presidency as you have never been, yet you are as far as you have never been, you might even miss the train altogether! When I look around I see that you are really not aware of what is going on around you. I have been looking at the happenings and going ons in the so called ‘largest’ party in Kenya today, but I am surprised that you still live in the past to imagine that ODM is the largest party.

Let us get to the jest of this letter, first of all those people who have been placed responsibly for purposes of propelling the agenda of the party have no idea what the party is about. All they do is engage in noise making, while other parties are out recruiting members our party officials are busy plotting on how they will get direct nominations come the next general election. If they are not doing that they are busy looking for ways to get close to you so that they can win favors, I have no idea what these favors are. But I hear people who are close to you come out forever rich and politically strong, look at that Carolli Omondi guy, really am not insinuating anything here!

Truth be told, but before I enter that maze, let me make it clear at this point; I am an avid member of the party, I have served in the party for the last five years as a youth leader in Baba Dogo ward, I have been involved in recruiting party members, I have defended that party online and offline and I have been accused to be an ODM blogger. Now that we have that cleared, I am perturbed that a party that was just launched less than 6months ago have more party members than ODM, It makes you wonder what ODM officials are doing in office, down from the grassroots.
This is why I call most ODM members at secretariat level noise makers and people who engage on imaginary wars with imaginary enemies to look like they are working for the party while in the real sense they are pushing their own selfish agendas. In the wake of the latest headlines and happenings in the party, where we are having massive exodus, I wonder and pose a question to you Bwana PM what is happening?

I know people have a tendency of asking too much from you, from ministerial positions to direct nominations, to you to settle squatters and even kick ex presidents from water catchment areas, but it is about that time you get a way of reigning on party members who are making the party look bad. Again I know you have no Jail to hold such people!

I am not sure what powers the likes of Elizabeth Ongoro, a non performer Member of Parliament, My Kasarani MP wields in ODM. I would like to know, because really Ongoro is just another MP who got in parliament through skewed nominations that the Party carried out in 2007, but that is water under the bridge, why we are rocking this boat from within I would love to know. I say this with the Orange Youth Democrats League and Orange Women Democrats league elections in mind. Those in the know are aware of what I am talking about.

Secondly it is about time all those people who are moving around as ODM officials/members especially on those social sites to learn a thing or two about courtesy and politics 101, and move out of the comfort of their laptops and grace the party with serious recruitment. I am made to believe that our party ODM has been made in the media but lack the grassroots support that builds a massive political party.

Having been involved in the affairs of the party before, (I can no longer hold my party positions since I am seeking a political post with the same party), I believe that most of the youth who run around this political party do not own an Identification card, the irony is that the ministerial position that is responsible for issuing ID’s is under ODM, another Minister who has failed Epic.

Otieno Kajwang can sing but he has failed us as a party and as a youth and to top it up his constituency Mbita is one of the least developed, I hope he will not sing his way to Senate as he did sing his way to parliament . That is a story for another day.

It is a sad day for me to be an ODM member, it is a sad time to imagine that you are anywhere near the presidency. My 8cent advice, take it or leave it, is that for you to have some substantial stab at the presidency of this country you must get rid of the sycophants, hang arounds or groupies as Miguna would call them, that surrounds and wants to use your name to get to power, otherwise you will have no alternative but to retire with president Kibaki.

It boggles the mind that today People like Amos Wako finds you credible enough to be his president! It boggles the mind that Maina Njenga with ‘all’ his ‘followers’ can only manage less than 500 votes in Kangema and you still hope that he has something to contribute to your presidency and to this nation. It boggles the mind that you still cannot see that there has been terrible mistakes in party nominations, just a few to name, Kamukunji By election, The current MP Hassan who is there courtesy of PNU was an ODM member, Kajiado MP Ole Sakuda who is there courtesy of TNA was an ODM member! It really boggles the mind how ODM nominations and elections are carried out.

This letter would not end until I put down my concerns for the upcoming nominations, it really scares me as an aspirant that I will spent all that money, time, energy and at the end I will not get free and fair nominations. I urge and press upon you to put into place good party mechanisms that will ensure that the nominations will be free and fair. Though you have made this declaration, but it has only been a road side declaration, there is nothing to show that ODM is ready to hold, free, fair and credible nominations any day soon.

I urge you to please loose the hang arounds and busy bodies who are around you to make money and get political favors through associating with you. I urge you to closely take a look at your secretariat, we are aware of people who have agitated and fought for other party manifestos in the past few weeks and are today well employed in your secretariat. It boggles the mind Bwana PM.

Funnily enough the concerns herein are not mine alone, I have been a strong defender of ODM within the circles of technology and outside the spheres of the internet. But it comes to that point that someone has to stop being a sycophant and address pressing issue, this is the sound of a many of us out here who would otherwise not have a platform to address you.

I know you are a busy man, with limited time but please put a few of these things into perspective and help us build a nation we want to see. I will end it there without niceties again.
