Two men were last night arrested for distributing ‘propaganda’ leaflets against Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The men are to be arraigned in court later today.
Confirming the arrest Central police boss Robinson Mboloi
said his charges had come upon the leaflets on Haile Selassie Avenue and Uhuru
Highway while on patrol last night.
Mboloi said his officers had been able to trace the printing
of the leaflets to a warehouse in River Road;
"We
arrested a man who had in his possession a number of leaflets and will be
taking him to court on hate speech related charges,” he said.
Mboloi
added that the leaflets seek to paint Raila in bad light over his alleged
involvement in various scandals;
"There
are a number of leaflets within the CBD we recovered those talking about
Triton, Molasses and the Cord alliance,” he said.
The
leaflets also attempt to show that the partnership between Raila and his
running mate Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka cannot work.
The
second of the two suspects was later arrested at Kilimani.
